Assembling my own custom IBM PC XT clone! The Monotech NuXT is an Intel 8088 motherboard with 640K RAM, XT-CF card interface, SVGA graphics and much more. A completely functional Turbo XT system in a MicroATX form factor, including Adlib sound and a 5.25" 360k floppy drive.

  • Hi, LGR! You are use "MS-DOS Upgrade" in this video. This distribution contains full MS-DOS instalation, but this is for UPGRADE from previous version - not for fresh/clean install. I don't wanna fight about this topic (have no sense), but if we tell/show computing history - need to do it in right way.

  • Is there something like an fpga that can actually accurately do different levels of old pc hardware? Like all the way from xt to a 486 perhaps? I'd like something that would have the correct speed in xt games but flick a switch or press a key combination and it would play Stunts/Doom with 486 speed. That would be what I would want.

  • The screw+plate over the expansion slot bay was used on a lot of HP/Compaq mid-towers; it's possible the design dates further back than that, though IDK if I could link it to IBM somehow xD.

  • Bizarrely, the Antec Super Lanboy case from around 2004 came with a yellow Turbo light between its Power and HDD activity LEDs, with a header for the motherboard. But no Turbo switch. I really wonder how it ended up in the design long after that feature went extinct.

  • I had a similar DOS game to that one you played and it was named Spectre VR. This was in a time long before any VR headsets I know of. I wonder if that game is on GOG. They have a lot of other good games from the days of DOS and they come with DOSBOX so they can be played in Windows. If you wanted to you could just load the games in DOS, just ignore that DOSBOX and run it as you would have way back then. Once you pay for a title on GOG it is yours to download as many times as you like

  • I looked at the 2.0 version but I just can't click that buy button. You lose too much compatibility with the V20 and to go with the slow. If you look at something like the Total DOS Collelction, this would only play such a small portion of it. It seems like this project would of been much better off being a 486. Granted you lose some of the bottom spectrum but you gain OH SO MUCH of the rest of that collection.
