  • Fuck motorola I got 3 phones from them for the least 7 years and when I got my most recent one, I had to send it back for repairs. Fedex lost the package and motorola told us to deal with it, but we weren't supposed to. Anyway, I had replacement insurance, but after 6 weeks of arguing with moto and fedex, they wouldn't honor the insurance because they never received the phone. Fuck them, they made $100 from screwing me, and lost out of $1000s of future phone purchases.

  • The popularity of Samsung Galaxy Android phones should have been the popularity of Motorola Android phones. They were always way better build-wise, and true to the greatness that is stock Android. Those Samsung Android skins are all trash.

    ValseMusicValseMusic9 miesięcy temu
    • That may be true in the past but Samsung has ditched the ugly TouchWiz skin for a long long time already. Also, I haven't heard of anyone in Asia even mentioning the name "Motorola" after the 90s. I am sure that if you ask people around here about what they think of the name "Motorola", they would answer you "the black mobile phones and pagers from the 90s". They focused too much on the US market and the fault is entirely on them.

  • The Apple prototype for their first model ran on a pirated version of the 6800 CPU. Later, Woz and Jobs did a mea culpa and signed a contract with Motorola themselves which lasted over 20 years through 9 versions of their CISC CPUs and the RISC PowerPC chips (60x and 70x). Amiga¹ and Sun Microsystems also had contracts with Motorola. ¹in Amiga's first corporate incarnation

Droid Turbo 2 was a beast and my current G7 Power is pretty damn nice for $200. Even worked in LMR for a while installing and programming their radios. My dad cut his teeth working for them and others in my family still do so. Great American company with an incredible legacy.

  • Though worth little (as far as Ebay is concerned), I found a copy of the 1975 Motorola Microprocessor Manual book at a Goodwill for a whopping five dollars. It's in spectacular condition other than the cover -- which was was dark and burnt with holes -- all finished off with a 1970s "Meet The Cars" MTV advertisement/pamphlet inside. Also some program output of some sort on a long strip of paper.
